Individual Therapy sessions - School Psychologist

Individual Therapy sessions

Individual therapeutic sessions with children and adolescents take place in my office. Parents will need to provide their consent for working with the minor. After an initial assessment and discussion about the issues presented, the child/adolescent will visit the office usually on a weekly basis for around 40-50 minutes, depending on their age.

During the sessions, we use play therapy techniques, role playing, discussions and many evidence based techniques to help the person understand and regulate their emotions and/or behavior.

The most usual concerns that children and/or adolescents face, and attend sessions for, have to do with:

  • Stress/ anxiety
  • Social skills and relationships
  • Learning difficulties
  • Loss, parental divorce
  • School refusal
  • Behavioral difficulties
  • Emotional Regulation

Parental involvement is usually necessary, in that parents have frequent communication with the therapist, exchange views and are offered suggestions on how to manage certain issues that may come up.
